Wednesday, 25 November 2026, at 6:30 pm at Pöge-Haus in Leipzig. A discussion event organised by FAU Leipzig and the Initiative for Democratic Labour Time Accounting (IDA e.V.) on the question:
How do we want to self-manage enterprises and organise production and distribution on a society-wide scale in the future?
Let’s discuss the aims and direction of workers’ struggles in the workplace. If workers are to increasingly take the self-management of enterprises into their own hands, we should already be thinking about how this could work. But we also need to think about how enterprises can be integrated into a society-wide system of production and distribution. What rules and principles do we need to make this work for everyone, while ensuring that our work remains something we can enjoy?
To explore these questions, we want to come together for a discussion combining facilitated small-group sessions with short introductory talks on various topics. An important basis for our discussions will be the text Fundamental Principles of Communist Production and Distribution. This historical text from the council communist tradition draws lessons from the authoritarian turn of the Russian Revolution and the failure of the German November Revolution, seeking to derive anti-authoritarian yet binding principles for how society could be organised.
Following this event, there will be a short reading group consisting of four to five further meetings, where we can explore the questions raised and the text in greater depth.
