We contacted over one hundred collective enterprises across the country to find out whether they are interested in the concept of labour-time accounting. We are delighted that 21 collectives have already responded. Of these, 18 expressed interest in concrete economic alternatives to capitalism and want to learn more about labour-time accounting. In addition, 17 collectives are interested in forms of economic cooperation without money, and 16 can imagine organizing joint events with us.
We appreciate every single one of these responses! The willingness for closer cooperation among collective enterprises is no secret. This is evident, for example, in the gatherings of collectives held last year in Lübeck and later this month near Kassel, where a grassroots-democratic umbrella organization is set to be founded.
From our perspective, labour-time accounting is, at least in the long run, the best tool to expand the democratic management and self-organization already practiced within collectives to larger associations — and perhaps, one day, even to society as a whole.
Our next step is to plan joint events with collective enterprises.
Are you working in a collective and interested in labour-time accounting? Feel free to get in touch! Together we can discuss whether to organize a (public or non-public) event, or whether it makes sense to first meet (online or offline) for an informal exchange.
